This family of "Sooners" posed for the camera in front of their house about 100 years ago with their mules that pulled the plows for farming and probably the wagon for transportation too. The place was 5 miles north and 3 miles west of Cherokee, Oklahoma. Life was hard on the prairie in the early 20^th century. We can be very thankful that we don't have to work that hard today.
